Knowledge Hub for Early Childhood Education

One of the ways the CCCF spreads knowledge is through its publications and media channels. The federation produces and curates a variety of print and digital resources for ECE professionals:

Interaction Magazine

Interaction is the CCCF’s flagship publication, focused on early learning and child care. First issued in 1987, it has provided a national forum for sharing research, practical strategies, and success stories from the sector. Over time, its articles have ranged from child development theory to frontline perspectives, often written by leading experts. Today, Interaction is published in digital form, with members granted full access to its extensive archive (ISSN: 0835-5819). This collection documents decades of developments in ECE policy and practice.

For students and educators alike, reading Interaction is a way to stay current with emerging trends while gaining valuable historical context on child care in Canada.

Resource Sheets & Guides

CCCF has produced key publications shaping Canadian ECE, such as the National Statement on Quality Child Care (1991), Occupational Standards (2003), and guides like Meeting the Challenge (1999). These are essential references for students in training, and practical guides for educators seeking to improve quality in their programs.

CCCF Blog & Newsletters

CCCF’s blog and newsletters provide updates on policy, research, and workforce issues. For students, they offer a quick way to follow sector trends; for educators, they deliver timely information and advocacy news relevant to their practice.

A recent post explored the economic benefits of the $10-a-day child care plan and how this policy impacts educators’ working conditions.

Families & Public Outreach

While CCCF mainly supports professionals, it also engages families through accessible educational materials.

Example:
In partnership with UNICEF, CCCF released parent-friendly posters explaining children’s rights in early learning environments.

It also hosts a “Topics for Families” section on its website, offering parenting tips, developmental milestones, and fun learning activities.

This outreach helps bridge understanding between educators and families—something every ECE student can benefit from learning early in their career.
